Vintage Carved Reindeer Horn Doll Alaska Inupiat Shishmaref Eskimo Signed For Sale

This is a classic mid-to-late 20th-centuryAlaska Native antler doll, specifically crafted in the distinct folk art style of theInupiaq (Eskimo)artisans from the remote village ofShishmaref, Alaska.Dolls of this specific shape and minimal ink-line expression heavily point toward historic Shishmaref doll-makers. These remote artisans pioneered using local caribou horn and leftover hunting furs to create lightweight, travel-friendly carvings for the booming Alaskan mid-century tourist and trade market. My family is from Alaska and visited regularly. I was gifted this doll in the late 1980s. There is an artist signature on the back, but I can not find whose it is.
