Up for sale is a beautiful, highly curated instant collection of ten (10) authentic, vintage American Red Cross pinback buttons dating from the World War I era through the early 1920s. This lot features excellent design diversity and highly desirable manufacturer back-stamps.
Lot Includes:
• (1) Large Centerpiece: 5th Roll Call "Representative" Button (Nov. 11-24, 1921) – Features the iconic Whitehead & Hoag Co. paper backing.
• (1) 1918-1919 Dated Button: Multi-year transitional Red Cross pin.
• (1) "Industry Is Pledged To Win The War" Button: Bold blue border WWI home-front design.
• (1) "Did You Answer?" / "Did You Give A Day's Pay?" Button: Dark blue outer rim variation.
• (1) "We Serve" Button: Classic small patriotic cross variant.
• (1) Stickpin Variant: Delicate small Red Cross pin with long mounting needle.
• (4) 1919 Dated Buttons: Matching set of dark blue bordered 1919 membership pins featuring the "American Art Works" stamp on the reverse.
Condition & Authenticity:
All pins are 100% original period items. They exhibit a wonderful, honest vintage patina. The faces are bright with crisp lettering. The reverse sides are clean with functioning pins/mechanisms. Makers' marks are clearly legible on the reverse sides, including The Whitehead & Hoag Co. (Newark, NJ) and American Art Works (Newark, NJ).
