Vintage 1970s Levi's Batwing Neon Store Display Sign 24x12 3-Layer Glass
Authentic vintage 1970s Levi's "Batwing" neon retail store display sign, measuring 24" wide x 12" tall — a countertop/window size built for retail use. This is a genuine three-layer glass sandwich construction: a thick center pane channels the neon gas pathways, sealed between two protective outer glass sheets, resulting in a substantial and well-engineered piece of vintage sign-making.
Functional vintage sign — lights and displays nicely. The outer red "Batwing" tube glows brilliant and solid. The inner white "LEVI'S" lettering illuminates, though there are dim/dark sections on the letters "L" and "S" (visible in photos), consistent with a naturally aging gas tube rather than a wiring fault, and matching the same areas where other examples of this sign seen on line have darkening in the neon. The front-navy blue paint shows flaking, primarily over the areas masking the internal neon channels — a byproduct of decades of localized heat cycling through the three-layer glass construction, not damage. There are two small glass chips (about 1/8" in size, photos 15 & 16) are present on the bottom corners, each just a tiny chip of one of the three glass panels. These do not affect the gas seal or structural integrity. The three glass panels are not perfectly aligned, as is common in this style sign from this era. Original Actown Electrocoil indoor gas tube transformer and Underwriters Labratories (UL) safety sticker are both present and intact. Elextrical cord remains flexable and appears to be in good condition.
Please closely examine all photos prior to purchasing. Selling AS-IS with no promises or guarentees beyond what is stated in this listing.
Shipping:Vintage neon is incredibly fragile, and standard bubble wrap will not suffice. To guarantee this sign arrives 100% intact, it will be prepared using expanding Foam-in-Place packaging and photographed/videoed during each segment of packaging. The sign will be safely wrapped and nested inside a custom-molded, shock-absorbing polyurethane foam clamshell. It will be shipped using a strict double-box ("box-in-a-box") framework to absorb transit vibrations, with padding between the first and second box. Shipment will be clearly labeled as "FRAGILE". The package will be sent fully tracked and 100% insured for the full purchase value. Please expect to sign for delivery of this item.
Carrier Damage Agreement: In the unlikely event that the carrier breaks this item during transit, the buyer agrees to retain all original shipping boxes, outer cardboard, and interior foam packaging, and provide these items for carrier inspection so an insurance claim can be immediately processed and paid out.
