Vintage 1970s Bronx Zoo Map NYC NY Tour Guide New York Zoological Society Jaguar For Sale

Vintage Bronx Zoo Fold-Out Map / Tour Guide – New York Zoological Society

Original vintage visitor map and tour guide from the Bronx Zoo in New York City, published by the New York Zoological Society, now known as the Wildlife Conservation Society.

The folded front cover features a striking green, black and white illustration of a jaguar/big cat with the wording “Bronx Zoo map/tour.”

Unfolded, the guide contains a detailed pictorial map of the Bronx Zoo along with a numbered directory and visitor information. The reverse provides a suggested Spring/Summer Tour with descriptions and illustrations of numerous zoo attractions and animals.

Featured attractions and exhibits include the World of Birds, Monkey House, Carnivore House, Aquatic Birds Building, Ape House, Reptile House, Penguin House, African Plains, Wild Asia and numerous other zoo areas. It also includes an “Indoor Highlights for Poor Weather” section.

This is an interesting piece of New York City tourism and zoological history and would display nicely in a collection of Bronx Zoo, New York Zoological Society, NYC, zoo, animal or vintage travel memorabilia.

The Wildlife Conservation Society Archives catalogs comparable Bronx Zoo “map/tour” guides as dating to approximately the 1970s–1980s. One archived Bronx Zoo map is specifically dated 1978–1979, while other examples of this general format are cataloged more broadly as circa 1970s–1980s.
