Vintage 1914 Milwaukee Road Montana Sixteen Mile Canyon View Book w/ Envelope For Sale

Up for sale is a scarce, original 1914 souvenir view book titled Nature's Wonderland: Montana (16 Mile) Canyon, published by the Chicago, Milwaukee & St. Paul Railway (The Milwaukee Road). Notably, this piece includes its original, intact brown paper mailing envelope, which is rarely found with the booklet.

The booklet measures approximately 9.5 inches across and features a beautifully illustrated green cover with a colorized photograph inset. Inside, you will find high-quality, early 20th-century colorized photographic prints depicting the dramatic, rugged scenery and impressive engineering of the railway line through Sixteen Mile Canyon in Montana.

This promotional piece was distributed to passengers riding the railroad's premier transcontinental passenger train, The Olympian. Because this historic Pacific Extension route through Sixteen Mile Canyon was permanently abandoned by the railroad in 1980, physical artifacts documenting this specific stretch of track are highly sought after by railroad historians and ephemera collectors.

Condition Details:

The booklet is in very good vintage condition with bright, clean interior pages and sharp colors. The binding is secure. The original mailing envelope is intact and shows some expected light age toning, edge wear, and a few small tears near the opening flaps consistent with its age, but it remains structurally sound and legible.
