Take a look at this impressive view of St Josephs Academy in Bay St Louis Mississippi. The photographer managed to get what looks like the entire student body and faculty lined up on the front lawn in front of that massive double gallery porch. Our sender squeezed a messy ink message all along the front bottom margin right over the publisher text. Now regarding the physical condition this historic piece has definitely seen some tough days. You will immediately notice heavy corner rounding and a very prominent diagonal crease across the bottom right corner. The top right corner also shows some bending and wear. The back features prominent age toning a bit of surface grime and two very heavy cancellation stamps from its journey to Louisiana.

This postcard is actually a tragic historical document. The card was postmarked and mailed in July 1907. If you look at the bottom left of the back someone later added a handwritten note in pencil that says This convent with the church was burnt in Nov 1907. The recipient likely held onto this card and updated it after the devastating fire made the local news. You are looking at a doomed building just months before it was completely destroyed.
