Welcome to the absolute chaos of Atlantic City during the bathing hour in 1907. Just look at this massive crowd of people packed onto the sand wearing heavy dark wool bathing suits. It honestly looks more like a formal winter gathering than a relaxing day at the ocean. The sender skipped writing a full message and simply noted the date on the bottom right front margin as July 18 1907. As for the physical condition this antique piece of tourism history has some standard wear from its century long journey. You will find noticeable corner rounding soft edges and typical age toning across both sides. Take a look at the back and you will see the postage stamp has unfortunately been removed or fallen off leaving a ghost outline behind. However you do get two very crisp postmarks including a receiving stamp from Allegheny Pennsylvania.

Looking at this crowd it is an absolute miracle anyone survived the water. In 1907 Atlantic City beachgoers were required by law to wear these heavy wool bathing costumes. Women even had to wear stockings and shoes into the ocean. Imagine trying to swim while dragging ten pounds of soaking wet wool through the surf! It is no wonder everyone in this picture is just sort of standing around safely in the shallow water instead of actually swimming.
