The Vintage Civil War Dahlgren 1861 Miniature 12" Artillery Cannon is a highly collectible, non-firing scale model representing the iconic muzzle-loading naval ordnance designed by Rear Admiral John A. Dahlgren. On the collector's market, these replicas typically feature real wood carriages, metal barrels, functional spoked wheels, and a signature metal side plaque stamped "DAHLGREN 1861".

Historical Context

Historically, original full-sized 1861 Dahlgren guns were prominent muzzle-loading artillery pieces during the American Civil War. Designed with a distinctively smooth, curved "soda bottle" shape, the design concentrated weight at the breech to equalize internal pressure and minimize barrel explosions.
