VTG HANDMADE ANTIQUE LATE 1800'S COPPER NESTING AU GRATIN BAKING PANS 15.5" SET OF 2Lg Pan Measures 15.5" Long x 8.5"W x 2" HSm Pan Measures 14" Long x 7" W x 2" HThis nesting set is handmade and has been handed down in our family for many generations. My research has determined the history and information I am providing below. They are made as follows:Heavy-Gauge Copper:Authentic 19th-century pans feature thick, hand-hammered copper walls (often 1.5mm to over 3mm thick) to prevent warping and provide maximum thermal mass.
Hand-Applied Tin Lining forAuthentic 1800s Copper Pans:Because copper reacts with acidic ingredients, these antique pieces feature a hand-wiped molten tin interior lining(tinning will look slightly uneven or textured compared to modern mechanical plating)
Riveted Solid Brass Handles:The handles are forged from heavy solid brass and secured tightly to the copper body using robust, hand-set copper rivets
These pans are absolutely the most uniquely made copper pieces I have inherited and are still in very nice condition. They will make a great addition to anyone whom collects copper.
