VINTAGE 1998 Potting Shed Snowman Christmas Tree Signed Discontinued 14 Inch For Sale

Item Description
Building a snowman has been a cherished winter tradition for generations, bringing families outdoors to enjoy fresh fallen snow and create a cheerful character of their own. This Potting Shed Snowman celebrates that tradition through a distinctive American pottery interpretation, with deep cobalt blue and cream decoration, an intricate crackle finish and a brilliant, glazed surface. Wearing a tall top hat decorated with holly and berries, he carries a snow-covered Christmas tree in one hand and a striped scarf in the other. His bright eyes each with twinkling star, carrot nose and broad smile capture the cheerful spirit of winter and the simple pleasure of creating something unique while the weather stays cold.Collectible Notes
The Potting Shed based in Concord, Massachusetts, officially opened for business in 1977. Although the company has since closed and its Christmas figurines are no longer produced, its distinctive pottery remains a testament to the craftsmanship that defined the studio. This signed Snowman, now discontinued, was created through a detailed manufacturing process that took approximately one week to complete each figurine. Beginning with a plaster mold, every piece was individually shaped and finished by hand before a skilled artisan painted the decoration freehand, without stencils, decals or mechanical methods. Following the initial bisque firing, the figurine was hand-dipped in glaze, fired again and carefully hand-rubbed to accentuate the intricate crackle pattern throughout the cream-colored surfaces. The rich cobalt blue decoration and glossy finish distinguish the craftsmanship of Potting Shed pottery. The authentic hand-painted signature includes artist initials CH, the studio\'s five-pointed star, production year 98, USA origin and mold shape number H28.Condition and Measurements
