HORTHAMPTON / CLC-1 / CAPTAIN H.A. RENKEN, USN / COMMANDING / MIDSHIPMAN CRUISE ALFA / 1957. *Inside the back cover we found 2 Shooting Target pages. Apparently the shooter was “PRETTY DARN GOOD” - have a look at the 2 TARGETS!!! The Welcome Aboard pamphlet measures about 5 ¼” x 8”. The front cover has: UNITED STATES SHIP / NORTHAMPTON CC-1 / CAPTAIN EUGENE H. FARRELL USN / COMMANDING / WELCOMES YOU ABOARD.

*According to online research engine WIKIPEDIA: “The USS Northampton (CLC-1/CC-1) was a US Navy command light cruiser (command ship). The third ship of that name, she was laid down as an Oregon City-class heavy cruiser (CA–125), on 31 August 1944 by the Fore River Yard, Bethlehem Steel Corp., Quincy, Massachusetts. Work suspended between 11 August 1945 and 1 July 1948; she was converted to a command cruiser under project SCB 13 and launched as CLC–1, on 27 January 1951; sponsored by Mrs. Edmond J. Lampron; and commissioned as CLC–1, on 7 March 1953. Decommissioned 8 April 1970. Stricken 1 December 1977.
