The Supermarine S6B S1595, which won the Schneider Trophy outright for Britain in 1931 at a speed of 340.08 mph. The plane then went on to raise the world speed record to 407.5 mph later that year.

This famous design by the legendary Reginald J Mitchell is regarded by most historians as being the forerunner of the Battle of Britain Spitfire, also designed by Mitchell shortly before his death.

The engine used in the S6B was the Rolls- Royce \"R\" (racing), from which was derived the Merlin engine that was to power Spitfires, Hurricanes, Lancasters, Mosquitoes and a whole host of Second World War aircraft, including the American Mustang and Kittyhawk framed in an A4(30 x 21 cm, 11.7 x 8.3 inch) size frame.
