A striking signed Ute Mountain pottery bowl featuring bold black geometric decoration against a warm cream background, framed by a deep earthy red lower band. Its rounded silhouette and sweeping pattern give it a strong presence on a shelf or among a collection of Southwestern ceramics.

The underside is marked “Wing / Ute Mtn / #12.” The signature may refer to Inez Wing, whose pottery appears in sale records, although the surname alone does not conclusively establish the artist’s first name.

History Colorado holds a separate Ute Mountain pottery commemorative plate presented by the tribe in 2002 to mark the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs’ 25th used, with visible scuffs, scratches, scattered paint wear and small surface losses which are clearly in the video (I paid special attention to close up on those), wear around the rim and base, and interior glaze aging although it is intact and water tight. There are no structural cracks or repairs.
