Interesting Russian Orthodox cross made of cast bronze and decorated with polychrome enamels in shades of blue, turquoise and white.
This iconographic model is known as the “Mysteries of Salvation” and features an elaborate composition centered on the Crucifixion of Christ, surrounded by different scenes from the Christian cycle of Salvation.
Around the Crucifixion are depicted the Witnesses of Calvary, the Holy Trinity, the Virgin of the Sign, and four major biblical scenes: the Annunciation, the Baptism of Christ, the Entry of Christ into Jerusalem and the Resurrection.
The cross also features numerous religious inscriptions in Cyrillic characters and retains its suspension ring on the reverse.
