Vintage Frontier Horizon Airlines Captain pilot wings insignia, a highly collectible piece of aviation history from a short-lived corporate experiment in the wake of U.S. airline deregulation. This specific wing design was only worn for a very brief window as the airline operated exclusively between January 1984 and early 1985. Established as a non-union subsidiary by Frontier Holdings, the carrier was designed to act as a high-density, low-fare feeder network operating out of its primary hub in Denver, Colorado, connecting passengers to major nationwide destinations such as Chicago, San Francisco, Washington D.C., and New York. Due to intense labor union protests and a fierce legal trademark dispute with Seattle-based Horizon Air, the airline survived for barely a single year before its assets were sold off, making this incredibly rare insignia a prized, historic crossover centerpiece for any serious commercial aviation or militaria collector.
In great condition with some minor surface wear. Please see photos for condition.
These wings came from NASA associate Director Daniel Nebrig’s estate and will Include a copy of the provenance card that the family and estate company made for these historic pieces.
