ENORMOUS and wonderful ~ as timeworn as they get! ~*~ ~ I can only imagine that this textile was used as a very very large bed curtain that would have hung behind a large ciel de lit ~ this textile is IDEAL for a period, timeworn interior ~ lovely large panel of both indigo blue ikat and Vichy check fabric! This textile is all hand worked and hand seamed. ~~ The faded side has many holes, tears etc, it\'s gorgeous, but certainly not right for everyone!! There are holes, rust stains, marks, mends, etc! I\'ve freshly laundered this lovely piece ~ it\'s ideal only for someone that adores the signs of time and use , ideal for any timeworn interior ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~*~ ~( 717 )

**** An Ikat fabric is woven using a very complicated dyeing technique. The dyes are applied to the yarns prior to weaving which will create designs on the finished fabric. Depending on the pattern, specific areas of the warp and/or weft threads are are protected from dye toprevent them from absorbing color. When the threads are dyed, each thread will have different color pattern along its length. When the threads are ready for weaving, it is very important to line each thread up perfectly on the loom. The warp thread is first to be set on to the loom, and then one must keep all threads in position very carefully to achieve the desired pattern in the final weaving of the textile. There is natural movement in these threads, which give an slightly feathered, or blurred look to the final textile. Ikat textiles are labor intensive, and wonderful heirloom treasures
