Scottish Terrier novelty items, including salt and pepper shakers, gained widespread popularity during the 1930s through 1950s, coinciding with the breed's celebrity status as President Franklin D. These charming table accessories were produced in various materials including bronze, brass, and cast iron, reflecting the Art Deco era's love for stylized animal forms. The playful design captured the Scottie's distinctive profile and spirited character, making them popular household items that combined functionality with decorative appeal.

Scottie dog salt and pepper shakers are treasured by several collector communities, including vintage kitchenware enthusiasts, dog breed memorabilia collectors, and mid-century decorative arts aficionados.
