Herewe have a rare 1937 Zenith model 6-DL-120 'Long Distance' tabletop tube radio.Only 1500 of these sets were produced as they were made primarily for exportmarkets. It features a gorgeous American Walnut cabinet, attractive dark walnuttones, big and bright black dial, great Art Deco appeal and excellentperformance.
Cabinet: TheAmerican Walnut cabinet is a real beauty with its eye-catching wood grain and darkwalnut tones. A large Art Deco grill not only looks great but allows foroptimal sound from the speaker. As if the cabinet isn't attractive enough, couple it with the large, bright black dial and it is quite the sight tobehold. Especially in a dim lit room. Sleek, jet-black feet finish the cabinetoff perfectly. This rare beauty is sure to be the main topic of conversation nomatter which room in the home or office you choose to display it in.
Dial& Knobs: Just look at Zenith's trademark black dial! A classic! Thetop half of the dial displays the Long Wave broadcast scale, and the lower halfdisplays the regular AM broadcast band. All numbers and letters representingstation frequencies are legible and display beautifully with a warm ivory glow. The dial glass is clear and free from any chips, breaks or cracks. All four 'Z'knobs are in perfect shape and control: on/off & volume, high/low tone, tuningand band switch.
GrillCloth: The 1930's style grill cloth is a fine replacement fabricfeaturing copper & gold colors with an Art Deco diamond pattern. Thisfabric can also be purchased separately in our store or just click thislink: https://www..com/itm/146867126796
Chassis: All tubes in the 6-tube chassis (including ballast tube) weretested with any weak tubes being replaced. All caps & resistors werechecked and replaced as needed. All brittle or bare wiring was replaced orre-insulated. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimalperformance. Using the included copper line antenna the radio playsexceptionally well. I'm able to pick up many stations across the AM broadcastband with great tone and plenty of volume.

Our goal is to maintainthe natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster andshine. We achieve this by removing all the old and worn lacquers and stains. Wethen sand the cabinet with fine grit pads down to the original bare wood.Nicks, chips, and blemishes are filled and/or blended. Any loose veneer isre-secured. We make sure any filler applied, or repairs made are blended nicelyand do not detract from the beauty of the set unless otherwise noted. Newstains and sealers are applied by hand. We continue by using many coats ofMohawk brand lacquers and toners applied in the same manner as when the radiowas originally finished in the factory. We use nitrocellulose piano lacquerwhich is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in aclimate-controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also applyvery thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not coverit up. A fine grit wet sanding follows every third coat along with a polishingprocess and ending with a QAR-Glaze rub (available in our store or clickhere: https://www..com/itm/133346478270). Many hours of work are put into the radios, but as you can see, the outcomeis a beautiful, natural-looking cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Ourradios are a great piece of history that comes to you ready to proudly display,as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.
