BENITOITE:California State Gem Mine, Santa Rita Peak, San Benito Co., California, USA. Dimensions: 6.6 x 5.5 x 3.0cm, small cabinet. Several large and numerous small beautiful blue Benitoite crystals really stand out against the white Natrolite on this attractive piece! The five larger crystals measure 1.8, 1.4, 1.3, 1.2 and 1.2cm, respectively. Three of the five are complete or nearly so and the other two partial and moderately etched. There are almost two dozen smaller ones varying in size between 1.5 and 3.5mm and these ate are all lustrous and well-formed. Both the Benitoite and Natrolite contrast nicely to each other and with the medium blue-green serpentinite matrix. The triangular-shaped Benitoite crystals are largely sapphire blue with a slightly lighter blue at their core. The broad faces have a satin luster with the prism faces around their edges having a bright luster. The sapphire blue is in great contrast to the white Natrolite and the green-blue serpentinite host rock and it shows off the many Benitoite crystals well! Buyer pays USPS Priority Mail shipping.
