For sale is a beautiful figural Art Nouveau vide poche vanity tray. (coin tray trinket tray)
Circa 1900 in age
We are not 100% certain of the origin, but we believe it to be Austrian. We acquired some Austrian bronze pieces and this was included.
Attributed to Hans Muller (1873 - 1937) but cannot find a mark. Others suggest possibly French or Swiss in origin.
The vide poche featuring a large clam shell form with a central reclining nude mermaid who gazes directly back at the viewer
On the outer edge of the shell sits a small winged cherub. The Cherub holds a two link chain in a raised arm. It may have had something attached to it at one point. Hard to tell.
Both figures in a very rich original untouched patina.
Age appropriate wear to the surface patina as would be expected.
Both cast separately and attached to the clam via screw.
The cherub figure MISSING the small screw that attaches it to the base. Just needs a very fine bronze screw to re-affix it. If we find one or come across one, we will add it and update the listing with it.
