Antique Spade Shaped Game Bird Painted Metal Plaque Ornate Victorian Decor For Sale

Unusual antique spade-shaped metal plaque featuring a hand-painted game bird surrounded by foliage.

The entire piece is metal, including the center panel. The bird scene is painted directly onto the metal rather than being under glass. An ornate raised border features floral and scrolling details around the unusual spade-shaped form.

This appears to have originally been a decorative element attached to a larger antique object rather than a freestanding picture. It may have been part of a clock, decorative box, case or similar item, but its exact original use and maker are unknown.

Measures approximately 4.5" wide × 5" tall.

Estimated late 1800s to early 1900s based on the construction and decorative style.

Antique condition with substantial age-related wear and patina. The painted bird scene has scratches, fading and areas of paint loss. Metal has oxidation, discoloration, finish loss and surface wear, with heavier oxidation and residue on the back. Sold as found and has not been polished or restored.
