Historically, the Tsuut\'ina (Sarcee) people encamped primarily in the plains and parkland region of Western Canada, near the upper Saskatchewan River and Athabasca River valleys in present-day Alberta and Saskatchewan. The image featuring tribal women Micakiu, Mucayiomoxin, and Otokeman depicts an encampment in Western Canada (likely near Calgary, Alberta) where the Tsuut\'ina lived in tipis. This image became well known and has been featured on vintage postcards, stock archives, and collector ceramics. By the 18th and 19th centuries, the Tsuut\'ina frequently encamped alongside the Blackfoot Confederacy. They moved seasonally throughout the plains of southern Alberta, often pitching their camps along the Oldman River near Fort Macleod or near the Bow River. Following Treaty 7 in 1877, they settled permanently on the Tsuut\'ina Nation reserve, which is located directly on the southwest outskirts of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
