Up for sale or sale is a magnificent, authentic antique Dresden porcelain demitasse cup and matching oval saucer set from the renowned decorating studio of Richard Klemm (Striesen, Germany). Dating precisely between 1888 and 1916, this exquisite cabinet set showcases the finest of classic Dresden craftsmanship.
Both pieces feature a deep, rich cobalt blue glaze overlaid with heavily textured, intricate gold filigree scrolls and diaper-pattern borders. The focal point of each piece is a beautifully detailed, hand-painted romantic vignette depicting an 18th-century courting couple in a pastoral garden setting.
The compact cup features a finely scalloped rim and a fully gilded handle. The matching saucer features a unique, lobed oval shape designed specifically to frame and present the cup beautifully when on display.
Markings & Authenticity
The underside of the cup features the genuine underglaze blue crown over the intertwined "RK Dresden" monogram used by the Karl Richard Klemm studio alongside the stamped "GERMANY" export mark. It also includes the studio's gold leaf/banner decorator mark over the porcelain blank.
