Antique PAINTED PORCELAIN DUCK/WATERFOWL c1880s Cabinet Plate Gilded Rim

This pattern dates from the Victorian era. It is lavish, lush, and quite stunning.

Size 8.75\" diameter x 7/8\" deep. Border edge is 1.5\" wide.

Features a FABULOUS hand painted scene of a large brown duck sitting in some reeds and water grasses at a pond/river\'s edge, possibly sitting on a nest.

There a 4 small cameos of water fowl around the plate\'s border- 2 ducks [identical] and 2 water birds [identical]

Scalloped edging with a raised embossed pattern along inner border. Edge of plate has gold gilding.

A lovely and rich deep teal blue/green color which is lightest in the center of plate.

Very good condition- some faint rubs to paint finish in a small area over the embossed inner border which does not extend down into the porcelain [see last pic]. Extremely minor and hard to notice. No nicks chips cracks scratches fading or repair. As lovely an example of this plate as to be found. No cutlery marks as this was obviously a treasured display piece.

Highly collectible- great as a cabinet display piece, a centerpiece, or many people use plate hangers to hang these on a wall. Gorgeous image.

Nice and heavy

Although this plate is NOT marked on the back or signed, I\'d guess it was probably French or Bavarian. It is not American, and the birds are not US water birds.
