Item Description:
  • The Maker & Era: Marked with the green \"M-in-Wreath\" stamp, this piece was made by the Morimura Brothers (predecessor to Noritake) between 1911 and 1921. Because US import laws changed in 1921 to require the word \"Japan\" instead of \"Nippon,\" this mark confirms it is a true antique over 100 years old.
  • The Technique: It features beautiful Moriage work, a traditional Japanese method where liquid clay slip is piped onto the porcelain to create raised, dimensional details. This technique is visible in the textured gold beadwork outlining the pink wild roses.
  • Design Aesthetic: The piece represents early 20th-century Art Nouveau style. It gracefully blends fluid, botanical Japanese artistry with elegant European-export features like the gilded handles and matte gold lid finia
