Antique H&R Daniel Attributed Porcelain Cup & Saucer
Circa 1845 | Rare Glasgow Shape | Split Branch Handle with Spur
Item Description
Up for sale or purchase is an extraordinarily beautiful and highly collectible antique English fine bone china cup and saucer set. This magnificent set dates precisely to the early Victorian era, circa 1845, and is cast in the iconic \"Glasgow Shape\"—a form highly documented and celebrated in classic ceramic reference texts such as Berthoud\'s guide books. It is strongly attributed to the legendary H&R Daniel workshop of Staffordshire.
The exterior of the footed teacup and the interior rim of the saucer feature deep, rich underglaze cobalt blue panels intricately overlaid with breathtaking, heavy hand-painted gold gilt lattice networks, scrolls, and diaper-work accents. The handles are molded in a spectacular split-branch / twig architecture terminating with a distinct structural thumb-spur at the upper crest. The center wells of both pieces are magnificently decorated with meticulously detailed, hand-painted botanical floral bouquets.
