A photographic reproduction of an engraving or painting, published in the Civil War / Reconstruction years. The Gilder Lehrman Collection catalogs the same image and identifies the girl as his daughter Nellie. Publisher not marked.

Provenance note: penciled on the back, \"From Mr. Hartwell April 17th/66,\" a period gift inscription dated 1866.

Size: standard CDV, approx. 2 1/2 x 4 in.

Condition: good. Light toning, soiling and edge wear, a small nick at the top left of the mount.
