Antique Black Forest Carved 12” Wall Shelf, Foliage & Large Hunt Chamois Figure For Sale

An exquisite late 19th to early 20th-century Swiss/German Black Forest hand-carved wooden wall shelf bracket. Features a strikingly detailed head of an Alpine Chamois (or Ibex/Mountain Goat) nested among deeply undercut forest foliage and delicate floral elements.

This piece exemplifies the fine craftsmanship of traditional Brienz woodcarvers, showcasing remarkable 3D depth, fine hand-chiseled texture in the animal’s coat and horns, and a rich, natural wood patina.
