Antique Art Deco “Smoke Dreams” Ferriot Brothers Ash Tray – Molded Inscription For Sale

Presented is an antique Art Deco ash tray featuring a cast metal figurine mounted on a cream Bakelite base with rounded edges and a recessed circular center. The figure stands in a relaxed pose with a hat and folded arm, reflecting the stylized sculptural metalwork common in early 20th‑century novelty pieces. It measures approx. 5x5x3

The underside of the base includes a molded dedication (not engraved), reading:“Smoke Dreams With the seasons greetings And best wishes for a happy And prosperous New Year from the Ferriot Brothers – Ferriot Sculptor.”

About the Ferriot Brothers: The Frriot Brothers were active in the early to mid‑20th century, producing small‑format sculptural metalwork, novelty ash trays, and promotional gift items. Their pieces often combined cast metal figures with molded Bakelite or composite bases, and many were distributed seasonally or as branded gifts. Surviving examples are appreciated for their folk‑art charm, period styling, and distinctive molded inscriptions that identify their workshop.

This “Smoke Dreams” example aligns with their known output: a whimsical figure, a molded holiday message, and a compact decorative form intended for desks or smoking tables.

Condition:

• Metal figure shows age‑appropriate wear and patina

• Bakelite base has light surface marks consistent with age

• Molded underside inscription remains clear and legible

• No cracks or structural issues observed

A character‑rich Art Deco smoking accessory with documented maker history and molded holiday message, suitable for collectors of vintage ash trays, sculptural metalwork, or Ferriot Brothers pieces.
