The object of sale is an extremely rare, collectible exhibit from the second half of the 19th century oval, standing casket (exposure box) made of clear, polished glass and richly decorated metal (bronze / brass) The box impresses with its craftsmanship: it is set on stable, openwork legs with volute and rococo motifs.

Historical Background and Epoch context :

Objects of this type derive from the French tradition of luxury products of the Second Empire era (Napoleon III, circ. 18501870) and the subsequent Belle poque period. ​

⭐ In the 19th century, the most exclusive workshops and jewelry plants in Paris were located in the Palais Royal Passages, creating sophisticated souvenirs for the aristocracy and wealthy townspeople. They were characterized by combining dyed glass with gold-plated brass. ​

⭐ Symbolism of the Bee: The motif of the bee at the top of the casket is not accidental. The bee was a personal emblem of the Bonaparte Dynasty (both Napoleon I and Napoleon III) symbolized diligence, immortality, power and royal majesty. ​
