Wonderful antique T.H. & A.M. Ressler patented cake pan, featuring an ingenious late-19th-century design patented March 15, 1892.
The pan is clearly stamped:
T.H. & A.M. RESSLER
PAT\'D
MAR. 15, 1892
The Resslers patented this design as a “Cake-Dish” (U.S. Patent No. 470,827). The unusual construction features a removable center tube with wire lifting handle and a removable outer ring, designed to make it easier to release deep cakes from the pan. The original patent specifically mentions its use for cakes such as pound cake, lady cake, and fruit cake.
Measures approximately 8\" in diameter.
A fantastic surviving example of 19th-century American kitchenware and a great addition to a collection of antique baking implements, primitive kitchenware, early patented household inventions, or farmhouse décor.
The pan shows age-appropriate wear, scratches, discoloration, oxidation and a naturally darkened patina from many years of use. It has been left in its aged condition rather than polished or restored. Please review all photos carefully as they are an important part of the description.
Due to its age, this piece is being sold as a collectible/display item rather than for food preparation.
Please note that I sell vintage and antique items, so signs of age and previous use should be expected. I do my best to accurately describe each piece and photograph any imperfections found.
