OVERVIEW: Here’s a dated 1904 sterling silver Odd Fellows badge/medal by Shreve & Co. The silver has a gold wash. The top piece has a bear motif and reads SOVEREIGN GRAND LODGE against a light purple enamel background. The main part is filled with California imagery including poppies, prospecting equipment, a redwood tree, not to mention the sun setting over the San Francisco Bay. Also present are IOOF symbols of an eye (above CALIFORNIA) and the three joined links. This is a beautifully made piece with very fine detailing and a nice weight. Even if you have no ties to the Odd Fellows, it is a splendid California antique.

This was produced as a souvenir or presentation piece from the large gathering held by the IOOF in San Francisco in 1904.
