The Case Baby Doc is a miniature version of the traditional doctor\'s knife and measures approximately 2⅞ inches closed.
Unlike an ordinary two-blade pocketknife, the Baby Doc combines a conventional spear-point cutting blade with a miniature doctor\'s spatula. Historically, the spatula on doctor\'s-pattern knives was intended for mixing and stirring medicines. Modern Case descriptions continue to identify the Baby Doc as having a spear blade and mini spatula.

The 6282SP SS pattern is well documented by Case.
Case\'s own historical database identifies 6282SP SS as the Baby Doc and shows the pattern being offered in multiple collectible bone configurations beginning by 2005.
Published specifications for the 6282SP SS give it a compact 2⅞-inch closed length. KnifeCenter also identifies its traditional tools as a Spear blade and Spatula.
Factory New Black Bone Handles
This example features Case\'s factory-designated New Black Bone handle treatment.
The handles display very attractive natural variation, transitioning from lighter cream/tan coloration toward the ends into deep brown and black jigging through the center.
The knife is completed with a traditional red oval CASE XX shield, polished bolsters, brass-colored pins and liners.
A collector describing another 2007 6282SP SS Baby Doc specifically reports the same combination of New Black Bone, red oval Case shield, 2⅞-inch size and 2007 tang stamp, making this an independently documented period configuration.
Traditional Doctor\'s Knife Design
The Baby Doc\'s unusual tool combination is what makes this pattern fun to collect.
The primary spear-point blade provides a versatile symmetrical cutting profile.
The second implement is a doctor\'s spatula, traditionally associated with preparing or mixing medicines. Case still describes the modern Baby Doc this way.
Both tools use traditional manual nail-nick opening with slipjoint/non-locking construction.

ConditionExcellent Collector / New Old Stock With Original Box
This knife appears to be in excellent collector condition and presents as new old stock.
The spear blade and doctor\'s spatula appear clean, bright and highly polished. I see no obvious evidence of significant use or sharpening in the supplied photographs.
The New Black Bone handles show excellent jigging and attractive coloration. No obvious major cracks or chips are visible.
The red CASE XX shield, pins, bolsters and liners all present very nicely.
The original green W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. factory box is included and retains its original label identifying Item No. 06963 / 6282SP SS / Baby Doc / NEW BLK.
The box and label display some normal shelf/storage wear appropriate for a knife approaching 20 years old.
