19th C Handwritten Genealogy Baldwin Family Births and Deaths Record (1796–1880)
2 pages Approximately 5.25" by 8.5"
A beautifully handwritten genealogical record chronicling the Baldwin family from the late 18th to 19th centuries. The first page lists the children of Jotham and Martha Baldwin—Cyprus (b. 1796), Rhoda (b. 1799), John Crane (b. 1802), and Marsena (b. 1804)—along with death dates for several family members, including Joannah Baldwin (d. 1794), Martha Crane (d. 1820), and Jotham Baldwin (d. 1834). A note records that Marsena, the youngest child, died in 1807, and Eli Baldwin died in 1839 at New Brunswick, New Jersey, buried in the Marble Cemetery, New York.
The second page continues with later generations: Jotham Meeker Baldwin (d. 1845), Cyrus Baldwin (d. 1849), John Crane Baldwin (d. 1862) at Knox Hill, Walton County, Florida, and Rhoda Baldwin (d. 1878) and Joanna Baldwin (d. 1880), both at Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri.
This genealogical record provides a remarkable cross-country lineage of the Baldwin family—from New Jersey and New York to Florida and Missouri—spanning more than eight decades. The elegant penmanship and detailed entries suggest it was a carefully preserved family Bible or memorial record.
