Nope, this isn't a giant sports stadium (right) going up in the New Orleans area- the area already has the Superdome. But it's the new $1-million heavy-cargo shed, including three-acre marshaling area, at Louisiana Avenue Wharves E, F and G. The shed is part of the port's $12.5 million project to build three general cargo berths, one of which workmen are putting the final touches to the substructure (picture B). In turn, the cargo-berth complex, scheduled to be completed in December, is part of the port's three-year, $31-million remodeling-building program to be finished sometime in 1978. Port officials say modernization of the Louisiana wharves may bring $30 million in extra revenues; the wharves will be able to handle a million tons of cargo annually. Photo measures 8 x 10 inches. Photo is dated 08-29-1975. PHOTO FRONT
