Original December 9, 1973 dinner menu from the S.S. Statendam of Holland America Line, issued during a Caribbean cruise.
The cover features a color photograph of the historic Dutch windmill “De Hoop,” located on the island of Tholen in Zeeland, Netherlands. The back identifies the mill and notes that it was built in the 18th century. It also carries the Holland America Line 1873–1973 Centennial emblem.
Inside is the complete shipboard dinner menu for Sunday, December 9, 1973, under Captain R. van Kate, Commander. Selections include hors d’oeuvres, soups, fish, chef’s specials, roast dishes, salads, cheeses, desserts, fruit and beverages. The featured entrée section includes items such as buttered lamb tenderloin, Caribbean shrimp, roast duckling and American sirloin steak.
A nice original piece of Holland America Line, S.S. Statendam, cruise ship and maritime memorabilia, especially appealing with the 1973 centennial logo and dated Caribbean cruise menu.
