c.1850 G.WOODHEAD Sheffield BOWIE Dirk KNIFE Civil War-era For Sale

This is an antique Bowie or Dirk knife made in Sheffield, England by George Woodhead 36 Howard St as stamped on the blade. Knife measures 9\" long with the blade being 5\". Spear point single edge grind out of thick 3/16\" stock. Blade has seen use and resharpening but remains pretty full. No pitting or scars. Nickel silver bolster/guard pinned to the full tang. Handles are polished horn with 3 inlaid Mother of Pearl discs pinned to the full tang by 4 pins. Sleek coffin handle profile. A very nice old genuine Sheffield bowie knife that could have seen use during the Civil War as it was certainly around in that time period. Knife comes in a nice handsewn leather scabbard with nickel silver throat and removeable leather belt frog. Not period to the knife but was made for it and makes a nice set.Guaranteed to please the new owner or I\'ll buy it back. Check my response.
