Beautiful vintage poetic porcelain bird plate for the month of April designed and painted by a Danish artist, poet, and designer Ole Winther for Hurschenreuter, Germany.

The plate depicts a pair of Turtledove birds and plants typical of the month of April.

Artist Ole Winther began his career as an industrial and graphic designer at the famous Holmegaard glassworks, before he worked for Hurschenreuter plate collection.

Made by Hurschenreuter, a German porcelain factory founded in 1814 in Northern Bavaria.

They employed artists craftsmen and sculptors from all over continental Europe, and focused on quality and design.

From 1860, they produced hand-painted and gilded porcelain products.

They expanded from 1902 to 1969 and were named Porzellanfabriken Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG Selb.

In 1969, Porzellanfabriken Lorenz Hutschenreuther AG Selb merged with C. M. Hutschenreuther of Hohenberg.
