Vintage Campos Filhos Aveiro Portugal Pottery Salt Glazed Wine Bottle For Sale

This is an eye-catcher vintage stoneware pottery wine bottle from Aveiro Portugal. This wheel thrown pottery bottle was fired using a salt firing method where salt is thrown into the kiln at full temperature and it meltson the pottery creating a textured orange, red, white or brown combination. The name stamp is on the side near the bottom of the bottle. Itmeasures 8 3/4\" in height. It\'s a heavy bottle weighing approximately 1.5lbs. Condition is good for age with no cracks or crazing. There is on tiny square spot as shown in photo number 3 where there is no glaze. As with a large number of these bottlesthere is one dark glaze drip as shown on the photos. The bottom of the bottle is not glazed and not totally smooth, which is common with all these bottles. The pictures will show the most details so please take a close look. The factory in Aveiro where these bottles were made, along with vases, jugs, other vessels, tiles, bricks and more was in business from 1896 to the 1960\'s. Not certain what dates during that time period the pottery bottles were made. However, this bottle will make a great addition to any collection of vintage and antique pottery vessels.
