He was born on October 25, 1924, and enjoyed an eight-year playing career as a third baseman for theNew York Yankeesfrom 1946 to 1952 and in 1954. During his illustrious playing career, he was a key contributor to four World Series championship teams. In addition to his baseball career, Brown also pursued a medical degree and became a physician.

Following his retirement from playing, Bobby Brown continued his involvement in baseball and became thePresidentof theAmerican League (AL)from 1984 to 1994. Brown's leadership and contributions to the sport were highly regarded within the industry and respected among his peers.
