Olmiite Reddish Crystal Aggregate Specimen 4.7cm 51.5 gm N'chwaning II Mine SA Search Description
This is a beautiful specimen of reddish brown Olmiite, a spherical aggregate of prismatic crystals on matrix. A few light scuff marks near the base, one fracture on the side where the specimen was removed from another sphericule, some white putty on the bottom where the specimen was formerly mounted to a stand. This beautiful piece is from the N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Fields, North Cape Province, South Africa. #Sa150
Physical Characteristics:
- Color is reddish brown.
- Luster is vitreous
- Transparency: Crystals are translucent to opaque.
- Crystal System is orthorhombic - dipyramidal 2/m 2/m 2/m.
- Crystal Habits include tight prismatic radiating clusters forming sphericules.
- Cleavage none
- Fracture is brittle, irregular.
- Hardness is 5 - 5.5
- Specific Gravity is approximately 3.
- Streak is white.
- Dimensions: 1 7/8" x 1 5/16" x 1" (47mm x 34mm x 25mm)at the widest points.
Metaphysical Attributes:
Olmiite has only be available for a few years and little metaphysical research has been done with these crystals. Olmiite has a very strong connection to Mother Earth and is very helpful in all forms of healing.
