Clogau Welsh Gold Princess Diana & Kate Engagement Ring Charm includes COA:
$200.00

This is such a unique find! I purchased this aboard the Queen Mary in 2013 when I went to see the Diana: Legacy of a Princess exhibit. Includes Certificate of Authenticity. It is a wonderful reproduction (including the correct number of diamonds). I do not remember the details of what the rest of the ring is made of other than the Clogau gold. It is marked with the Clogau dragon which means it does contain the Welsh gold. There are 2 options for metal purity and I cannot get a clear enough photo to read which one it is. I am not going to make any assumptions that may or may not be wrong in this listing. This charm has been inspired by the sapphire ring given toDiana, Princess of Wales by Prince Charles on their engagement in 1981. Eachcharm contains a touch of rare Welsh gold from the same mine that has been usedby the Royal family since 1923 to create generations of Royal Family weddingrings, including Her Majesty the Queen, Diana Princess of Wales and the Dukeand Duchess of Cambridge. Share in this wonderful and unique royal heritagewith the beautiful Engagement ring charm. Each charm is hand packed in apresentation box. From the Clogau website:
Rare Welsh gold is contained within each piece of Clogau jewellery, making it some of the most exclusive jewellery in the world. The content of Welsh gold can be identified by the Welsh dragon stamp, and other unique marks that denote a genuine piece of Clogau. Some members of the British Royal Family have used pure Welsh gold to create their wedding rings, since 1923. This tradition was founded by The Queen Mother, then Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, on her marriage to the Duke of York on 26th April, 1923.

Other members of the Royal Family that have had Welsh gold wedding rings include:

• 1923 The Queen Mother\'s marriage to King George VI
• 1947 Queen Elizabeth II marriage to Prince Phillip
• 1960 Princess Margaret’s marriage
• 1973 Princess Anne\'s marriage
• 1981 The marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles
• 2005 Prince Charles\'s marriage to Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall
• 2011 Catherine Middleton\'s marriage to Prince William.

Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth\'s very own wedding ring, from her marriage to The Duke of Edinburgh on 20th November 1947, is crafted from a nugget of pure Welsh gold from the Clogau St. David\'s gold mine.

The tradition of the British Royal Family using Welsh gold wedding rings was carried into its 88th year during the most recent royal wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on 29th April, 2011.
