Batman #237; CGC 9.0 Sig Series Signed By Neal Adams; 1st App The Reaper; 12/71 For Sale

Classic issue featuring The Reaper. The origin of this issue is based on an idea by Horror comic legend Bernie Wrightson with an assist from another Horror Legend: Harlan Ellison. The story behind the story is explained in a letter by writer Denny O’Neill.

The book and cover were pencilled by Neal Adams, THE definitive illustrator for Batman as The Dark Knight.

The book was sent in to CGC for what turned out to be one of Neal Adams’ final public appearances/signings having passed away shortly after this private signing.

It was graded a solid 9.0 (VF/NM)

Adams signed the cover using a Silver Sharpie.

I only ship domestically using the USPS Priority Service. The book will ship insured for the purchase.

** I sold this item about 6mo ago, packaged it like it was to be delivered in an armored truck. When the buyer accepted delivery, somehow the USPS found a way to mangle the box w/mega-secure packaging materials. Unfortunately, whoever/wherever this mangling of my shipping materials happened, they also succeeded in crushing one of the corners pretty badly. In doing so the CGC encapsulation sustained two small cracks on the top left side and top right side along the Signature Series label. I’ve included a photo of each.

** THE BOOK SUSTAINED ABSOLUTELY NO DAMAGE. The damage to the holder comes in the form of two small cracks. One on the top left side of the label and one on the top right side of the label. They do not affect the book’s grade.
