**HISTORY OF THE HOSPITAL** - During World War II, Atlantic City became occupied by the U.S. Military as training grounds, soldiers' barracks, and hospitals for the wounded soldiers. The Chalfonte, Haddon Hall and Traymore hotels were collectively renamed Thomas M. England General Hospital, named after Lt. Col. Thomas M. England. It was the largest soldiers' hospital in the United States at the time. The hospital operated until 1946, when it reverted back to the originally named hotels. The hospital was both a surgical center and reconditioning facility specializing in amputations, orthopedic and nerve surgery, and the fitting of artificial limbs. **CONDITION** - Excellent. The booklet has a glassine cover, which has a couple of small edge-tears at the top, that has the kept this booklet in such great condition.
