We are offering an 1831 Stampless Letter / Postal Cover with a hand-stamped Boston postmark. **NOTE** - there is no postage stamp, as postage stamps were not issued until 1847, hand-written in the upper right corner is the letter \"F\", indicating postage was free.The letter reads, \"Your account on our books is balanced up to the charge of $50.89, March 2nd, as to the principles of bookkeeping involved in the affair we assume you are connected with, but as you now have the note in your hands and your account is balanced on the ledger, we think there can be no difficulty in settling with your administrator\".**NOTE** - As was common during this period, the letter also served as the envelope by folding it a certain way, addressing it, and sealing with a red wax seal. **CONDITION** - A piece of the paper had torn away at the spot where the seal was opened, as often happened.
