This recent find is from the estate of a Hobby and Antiques Store Owner who had a huge collection of antique ephemera relating to a wide variety of topics. This listing is a 20+ piece collection of letters, receipts, tax documents, advertisements and bill proposals and other documents relating to Banking, Government and Taxes including some from the Civil War - Pieces date from 1855-1876. There are 4 multi page documents (two are bound across the top with string while the other two are bound with open rivets) relating to Bills originating in the Senate and to incorporations of a bank, copper mining company and a machinist's association. Other items include State of Michigan Auditor General's Office and Court of Chancery Rutland County (with a beautiful original blue seal) on foreclosure court papers. There are Civil War Era documents are included some of which relate to a "desire to make for assistance rendered to the Families of Soldiers" by the State of Vermont, as well as retail items with "The Dread of Traitors." color stamp/letterhead. Another Civil War Era piece is a circular from the Office of Comptroller of the Currency (Washington) relating to the National Currency Act and steps detailed for bank organization. Also included are 2 Blank (18)55 Directors of National Bank Forms.The Hobby and Antiques Store Owner had a full box of ephemera from the Joseph Adams Estate. In addition to being the President of the First National Bank of Fairhaven, VT, he was also a prominent wealthy businessman including lumber and stone (marble and slate), Mercantile/Clothier/Dry Goods Stores.All items are in Great condition with some expected age and use wear.
