for sale a RARE! "American Medical Association" George M. Fister Hand Signed 3X5.5 Card.
ES-1787
Dr.
Fister, a urologist in Utah from 1928 to 1964, was the spokesman of the
American Medical Association in its unsuccessful fight against the Kennedy
Administration's program for Medicare. The group said the medical profession
“will not be a party to implementing any system which it believes to be
detrimental to the public welfare.” The target was the Administration's program
for Government‐controlled
health care for the aged financed by increased payroll taxes on workers and
employers. For many months, Dr. Fister criss‐crossed the country, living out of a suitcase while he addressed
medical meetings and civic, service and other groups in the fight against
Medicare. George Morgan Fister was born in Logan, Utah. He graduated from Utah
State Agricultural College in Ogden and Rush Medical College, then the
University of Chicago's medical school.
