This pin is likely pre 1900s. There is a heavy patina makin it difficult to read in photographs. It is somewhat easier in person. The condition is excellent given the age. The heavy enamel is very well kept. I've done some looking around and here's what I've found...

Per my research: Outer circle of pin says: "in nov ang sigillvm academiae harvardianae" which translates to: (our of order): in new england academic seal of Harvard

Inner area says: "CHRISTO ET ECCLESIAE" which translates to: For Christ and Church". It was the original motto of Harvard University, adopted in 1692 and featured on the university's seal. However, the phrase was later removed from the school crest due to the influence of Unitarians in the late 19th century. The current motto is "Veritas", which translates to "Truth"

Inside the shield are 3 books: VE RI and TAS-Veritas or Truth
