Up for sale is this antique advertising tray for Olympia Beer. Please excuse any glare in the photos. This tray has colorful lithography depicting the comely Olympia girl holding a tray with two steins of beer. The back side has black paint. The tray has a diameter of approximately 12 1/8 inches and a height of 1 1/4 inches. Unpacked, it weighs 12.4 ounces. This would be a good addition to a collection of antique advertising or breweriana.
Identification
This tray is antique, and the exact age is not known. It advertises Olympia Beer, Compliments of Pilsen Brewing Co. of Chicago, Ill. Tiny print at the bottom says, "Registered U.S. Pat. Office" and "Kaufmann & Strauss Co. NY 1237."This is from a northern California estate collection of advertising and Americana.
Condition
This item looks good overall, as shown. The decorated side has some scratches, scrapes, marks, and finish losses, as shown. There are some minor edge dents. There is minor oxidation to the metal. The back has scratches and paint wear and there are a couple of stickers which were applied by the previous owner. The back side has two small glue areas where a picture hanger may have once been affixed.
