Presenting the FRANK THOMAS Media Library of 21 VHS Tapes from personal collection of the legendary Disney animator...  exclusively offered thru Saturday's Toys.

Item:  Personal collection of 21 VHS Disney Animated Films from the Flintridge estate of Frank Thomas

Material:  Protective "clamshell" case for each video cassette; some include original inserts, as noted.

Date:  circa 1985 - 1998; as noted on each VHS cassette

NOTE:  VHS tapes are offered specifically for archival purposes; and are not recommended for play due to their brittle state after more than a quarter century in storage.  They are offered primarily as a rare assembly of Frank's personal animation media collection; not intended for regular use without guidance from a qualified conservator / specialist in media preservation.

The collection was previously included within the family's media library at the home where Frankand Jeanette Thomas raised their family in Flintridge, California.  Frank’s friend and fellow Disneyanimator Ollie Johnston lived next door with his wife, Marie, and their family.  Their stories are presented in the timelessfeature documentary film, “Frank and Ollie”, produced by Frank’s son, TheodoreThomas and his wife Kuniko Okubo.

Also of note, two of these tapes (Peter Pan / Lady and the Tramp) include hand-written post-it notes (shown below) detailing specific scenes (and location of scenes on the VHS tapes); as cued-up for Frank's review and possible use.  The notes were prepared by support staff that were assisting Frank; likely for one of his upcoming presentations with fellow animator Ollie Johnston.  These notations add to the provenance of the collection in documenting that these tapes were personally used by Frank in preparing for the growing number of presentations as a featured guest speaker for art students, Disney Collector shows, conferences and conventions.

Among the most trusted artists ever to work with WaltDisney, Frank Thomas was a key member of the fabled animation team known as Walt Disney’s “nine old men.”  Frank's contributions to the canon of beloved Walt Disney animated films placed him atthe center of studio production throughout Walt’s lifetime.

Includes 5" x 7" photo of "Frank andOllie" to commemorate the sale; along with an official Certificate ofAuthenticity signed by Saturday's Toys founder Dave Mason on behalf of the Frank Thomas family.
